The sixth committee of the United Nations General Assembly, the Legal Committee, was established in 1947. The Legal Committee is a primary forum that benefits the General Assembly in implementing article 13 of the United Nations Charter, which focuses on the development and codification of international law by designing legal tools and treaties. At the seventh annual session of HaydarpaşaMUN’24 the delegates will try to find solutions for two topics. The first agenda item is about Reserving Cultural Heritage in Conflict Zones. In the face of armed conflicts, the protection of cultural heritage appears as a concern; bridging the realms of history, identity, and human rights. The delegates will focus on: the important challenge of preserving cultural heritage in the center of armed conflicts, finding solutions that protect our shared history and exploring comprehensive strategies to secure valuable sites. The second agenda item is "Jurisdictional Boundaries and Sovereignty Concerns in Maritime Matters". In a world connected by great bodies of water, this topic stands at the forefront of diplomatic discourse.
